Opportunities are available for new players to join the existing competition as a pool player. Nomination as a pool player is a good way to ensure you are graded correctly for the next competition.

Rules

Each team shall consist of 3 players.

Matches shall consist of 6 sets being 3 doubles and 3 singles. A 12 point tie break will be played at 5 games all.

Each player shall participate in 3 sets consisting of 2 doubles and one singles. Players within the team are graded with players playing their correspondingly graded opponent in each set eg.

Doubles1 & 2 v 1 & 2
1 & 3 v 1 & 3
2 & 3 v 2 & 3
Singles1 v 1
2 v 2
3 v 3

No person shall play with the same partner in more that 1 set each match.

Order of Play

Suggested order of play is 3 doubles and 3 singles. The visiting team puts on the first, third and fifth set. The home team puts on the second, fourth and sixth set.

Commencement Time

The commencement time of the match is 7.30 pm. No more than 5 minutes warm up time is allowed before the commencement of the first set, and thereafter no more than 3 minutes is to elapse between the conclusion of one set and the commencement of the next. No warm up time is permitted after the second set.

Finishing time is approximately 11 pm when the lights go out.

Home Team

The Home Team shall be the first mentioned in the draw. The Home Team is responsible for the provision of the result card, shared costs for court hire and the provision of a minimum of 2 new tennis balls of a brand approved by the Management Committee.

Play

The server in the first set shall be decided on a toss and the service shall alternate in subsequent sets.

Forfeits

Team who do not have a pair ready to play at the stipulated time must forfeit a set. On expiration of 10 minutes the second set can be claimed, and at intervals of 10 minutes subsequent sets can be claimed untion the end of the third set when the match can be claimed.

Result Cards

Result cards must be completed and signed by both captains. It is the responsibility of the winning team to forward the card to the Competition Secretary within 48 hours of the match being played.
